From MVP to Production: Our 4-Step Process
What actually happens between "we have an idea" and "it's live and being used" — the process behind every project we ship.
Every client asks some version of the same question early on: "What does working with you actually look like?" Here's the honest answer, not the polished pitch-deck version.
1. Discovery & planning
Before any code gets written, we map the actual requirements — not the feature wishlist, the requirements. There's usually a gap between the two, and closing it early saves weeks later. This phase ends with a scope document and a realistic timeline, not a vague promise.
2. Design & architecture
We design the UX and the technical architecture together, not sequentially. A screen that looks great but requires an architecture that won't scale is a problem we'd rather catch on a whiteboard than in production. This is also where we decide what to build now versus what to design for but defer — premature scalability work is as costly as none at all.
3. Development & testing
Work happens in short, visible sprints. You see progress weekly, not at the end. Testing isn't a separate phase bolted on afterward — it happens alongside development, because a bug caught the day it's written costs minutes; the same bug caught after launch costs a support ticket, a client's trust, and a much longer fix.
4. Launch & support
Launch day is not the finish line. We stay on for monitoring, bug fixes, and iteration — because the real test of any product isn't the demo, it's what happens when actual users start relying on it.
Why this order matters
The pattern underneath all four steps is the same: catch problems as early and as cheaply as possible. A requirement misunderstood in discovery costs a conversation. The same misunderstanding discovered in week six of development costs a rebuild. That's not a project-management platitude — it's the actual reason this process looks the way it does.
